| Pandanus amaryllifolius has a number of local medicinal uses. Leaf extracts have been thought to reduce fever, relieve indigestion and flatulence and as a cardio-tonic; also a substitute for basmati fragrance. It can be used to cook normal, non-fragrant rice and makes it possible for dishes to taste and smell like basmati was used. |
